Beach Stage 12:40pm

Get ready to welcome the teenage winners of EchoArt Musician’s Foundation Battle of the Bands to the Beach Stage at Lamma Fun Day.

Why not go see the final at The Wanch on November 10th and choose the winning band.

Covers of Covers

Beach Stage 1:10pm

Formed by a group of strangers with a mutual love of funk, Covers of Covers covers the covers of other people’s covers, and funkifies them even more. (Did we mention we like funk covers?)

From The Beatles to Backstreet Boys, our quirky interpretations of these classics will make you feel like you’re listening to your favourite songs you’ve never heard before.

Yung Shue Wan Curs

Beach Stage 2:00pm

The original exiles on Main Street, Yung Shue Wan, The Curs are a traditional American country and western band that don’t know they ain’t American. With roots in good ol’ fashioned music and inspiration from songwriters as diverse as Hank Williams and Snoop Dog, Harry Harrison and John Hutton are joined by Gareth Dunster (bass, vocals) and Dave Simpson (drums, vocals). Murmurs of a new guitarist and an old fiddler appearing at Lamma Fun Day are being murmured.

Having almost achieved viral global fame with the infectious Take Off Your Mask and Kiss Me in 2020, The Curs have a wonderful rapport with international audiences wherever they go.

Somehow, they have been making sweet music together for three decades on and off, but it still sounds as fresh as a babbling mountain stream…of moonshine.

The Reliants

Beach Stage 3:20pm

The Reliants are like-minded souls united in the goal of entertaining fans with eclectic guitar-driven folk rock, accompanied by harmonies that would make a Welsh male voice choir weep with joy. Their music draws deep on reflections on the human condition and will resonate with anyone who has had a joyful hangover.

Founded around 2013, the Hong Kong-based band has undergone various transformations and now features: Justin Wah (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Mikel Echevarria (vocals, lead guitar), David Simpson (vocals, drums) and Darren Boey (vocals, bass).

Funkee Tung

Beach Stage 4:30pm

Dance rockers Funkee Tung are a retro blend of rock, funk, soul, jazz and disco. With songs like Swaggerbones and Disco Fantasy, supported by a raw and high-energy stage presence, Funkee Tung will get you up on your feet. This six-piece includes an epic brass section and plays with a sound that would make Ron Burgundy purr like a Lynx in heat.

Fish Godmother

Beach Stage 6:00pm

Occasionally piano-driven, always a little bit mad – Fish Godmother describe their sound as “Honest A.F.” No strangers to the music scene, Aileen Alonzo-Hayward (Cleen, Dark Himaya, Tranquil Wednesdays), Darren Hayward (Tranquil Wednesdays), Martin Turner (Dark Himaya, Who Shot Holga, Five Cent Bridge), and Nic Munnings (Faker) bonded over a love for creating songs birthed from the sea that surrounds their island home.

The Sinister Left

Beach Stage 6:45pm

The Sinister Left have a post-punk whale chorus spirit, with screaming chainsaws and industrial jackhammers. They have supported Gary Numan and The Chameleons.

Naggin Eejits

Beach Stage 7:30pm

Naggin Eejits burst onto the Hong Kong folk-rock scene in 2018, playing Celtic music from across the globe and captivating audiences ever since. With roots in vibrant storytelling and lively music traditions, the band members span the globe with members from Ireland, Canada, England and Japan.

Known for their energy filled sets featuring a dynamic mix of trad, contemporary and Celtic covers, they have a strong following throughout Hong Kong and Asia. You’ll know you’ve been at an Eejits gig if your throat is sore from singing, your legs sore from dancing and you’ve missed the last ferry home.

The Philharmonic Orchestra

Beach Stage 8:15pm

The Philharmonic Orchestra is all original music from Philip Daryl Emond. Since becoming a Hong Konger, PDE has released three Philharmonic Orchestra albums and an EP. He also released two full length albums with League of Gentlemen and loves to play live with bands such as The Black Lodge Cabaret, DJ Star, Mercy Beat, The Sideburns and Sinister Left. For Lamma Fun Day, The Philharmonic Orchestra includes Jimmy on bass and Freddie on drums.

The Sirens

Beach Stage 9:00pm

The Sirens emerged out of informal acoustic jams and late-night harmonising in the street after closing time to create a unique alternative folk sound. Aleks (fiddle), Erin (guitar), Jeni (cello) and Lebo (cajon) re-interpret everything from traditional Irish to The Eurythmics, by way of Neil Young, Eva Cassidy, and Amy Winehouse.

Appearing on the Beach Stage at Lamma Fun Day, The Sirens’ harmonies lean towards a mysterious, moody sound evocative of their mythological namesakes luring sailors lost at sea.

Junk!

Beach Stage 9:45pm

JUNK! is an audio-visual electro-comedy spectacle the likes of which you’ve never seen before. It is a one man show that is equal parts performance art and straight up silliness.

Pairs well with warm beer.

Road Stage

Nick Florent

Road Stage 12:40pm

Singer songwriter Nick Florent’s first album Another Day on the Ferry is a collection of songs based on observations of Hong Kong life, recorded with guest musicians from all over the city. Performing at Lamma Fun Day for the first time as a one-man band, last year he enjoyed the event so much he was inspired to write the very catchy Turn Up, Drink Up and Have Fun.

The Llufrios

Road Stage 1:20pm

Flook

Road Stage 2:10pm

Former Hedonia guitarist and vocalist Kieran Colvert (aka Flook) presents songs created in collaboration with the elusive and rarely seen Roger De Bonmont, guitarist, composer and producer. The songs, to be released on Flook’s forthcoming debut album, get their first public airing at Lamma Fun Day 2024.

Enjoy an intimate performance that blends vulnerability and strength. Vianee’s Lamma Fun Day set features tracks from her album Breaking the Spell and her most recent solo releases. Don’t miss this chance to connect with Vianee’s art and experience an unforgettable musical journey.

KCR

Road Stage 4:10pm

Think Talking Heads meets Annie Lennox. A chance meeting at the Lamma Choir about a year ago brought Weisan and Brendan together. Both solo songwriters for many years, as KCR they create an eclectic mix of electro and acoustic pop music.

Le Groupe Electrogène Fanfare Club

Road Stage 5:50pm

Le Groupe Electrogène Fanfare Club started as the ultimate side project for a pack of homesick Frenchies who longed for their homeland’s ferias (festivals), with their boisterous atmosphere and their famous marching bands.

Electrically self-powered, they pay tribute to classic French songs and melodies (but not only), fuelled by Pastis and camaraderie.

Kitchen Ceilidh

Road Stage 6:20pm

Four accomplished folk artists create the unmissable Kitchen Ceilidh, a lively Celtic music and dance ensemble that takes inspiration from the East Coast of Canada, Shetland, and Ireland.
